Important School Lunch News

White Oak ISD will offer free meals to all students in the 2021-2022 school year. The decision to serve free breakfast and lunch through the coming school year comes after the USDA announced it would be extending free meal benefits through June 2022. Schools nationwide will be allowed to serve meals through USDA’s National School Lunch Program Seamless Summer Option (SSO), which is typically only available during the summer months.

White Oak ISD is excited to offer healthy, delicious meals at no cost to all families, regardless of their household income. Free school meals will help expand food access in White Oak while also providing comfort for students and convenience for families. The free meals will be (1) complete meal off the serving line. Additional student meals, extra entrée items, snacks, and drinks (other than milk) will be at an additional cost. These additional costs and the cost of adult meals are listed in the sidebar of our campus blog along with links to the breakfast and lunch menus. Your student will still use their lunch accounts for purchasing any extra meals and/or items, and you will still be able to send money or pay online to add money to their lunch account.

NOTE: Parents are still asked to fill out the free and reduced lunch meal application like in years past for carryover for the 2022-2023 school year. If you have any questions, call Lori Ferguson, Director of School Nutrition, at 903-291-2090.

Just to clarify: ONE complete meal is the free option. All other items will need to be paid for with money or with funds from their accounts.

Additional Charges:

  • $2.35 Additional complete meal for elementary students
  • $ .50 Extra Milk
  • $1.00 Extra Breakfast Entrée
  • $1.50 Extra Lunch Entrée
