Happy Birthday, Ms. Smith

Today is the first of several summer birthdays. Now if you know Melody Smith at all then you know of her love for Elmo.  These days, Ms. Smith is spending time at the softball fields with her daughter. Take some time today to do something for yourself and we hope you enjoy your birthday. Happy Birthday, Melody Smith.

Summer Reading Camp

read

It is essential that students read during the summer months to keep up with the rigorous reading demands in school. Why not make it fun and social while continuing to read and learn?

The intent of this camp is to immerse students in high-interest literature and to develop an enjoyment and a love for reading. This camp will consist of discussions and book talks rather than written work. Students will read novels, poetry, choral reading, reader’s theater, vocabulary games, and participate in the Read Live program to develop fluency and vocabulary.

Camp Facilitators are Rhonda Bybel and Lisa Pullen. The camp is for students entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades and will take place at the White Oak Intermediate School from 10:00 – 12:00. Dates are 6/19-6/22, 6/26-6/29, 7/24-7/27

Math Fact Summer Challenge

The Summer Math Program has begun. The challenge is open to all students entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades at White Oak Intermediate. Flyers and a yellow challenge sheet were sent home in students’ final report cards. We hope that each one of you will join up and take the challenge!
